The Bolton Trust encourages and promotes new business enterprise in Ireland. It is an independent, voluntary trust actively committed to assisting people to create sustainable businesses. The Trust was established in 1987 by staff of the Dublin Institute of Technology and currently has over 200 members. In 1999 the Bolton Trust acquired Docklands Innovation Park and embarked on a programme to upgrade the facilities. The park is home to some 70 companies many of whom are participants on the DIT Hothouse New Frontiers Programme (www.hothouse.ie). DIP offers affordable enterprise space and some incubation space. The facilities include meeting rooms, secretarial support and a coffee shop. Bolton Trust sponsors the Annual Docklands Innovation Park Enterprise Awards and the DIT/Bolton Trust Student Enterprise Competition.
